General Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field. Two years of experience in Academic Advising or experience in a related field. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Serves as Assistant Academic Advisor to students and helps design programs relevant to students in their academic pursuits.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding their academic programs and curriculum.
• Makes changes to student records as necessary, maintaining student files updated throughout their academic careers.
• Provides retention advice to students on probation.
• Assists with resolving academic issues.
• May assist with coordinating orientation sessions for groups of incoming new students.
• May assist with recruiting high school or community college students and give presentations to small or large groups.
• Analyzes and processes degree plans and degree exceptions.
• Assists all student populations, regardless of field of study.
• May help with training new advisors.
• May travel to the campuses of feeder schools or satellite campuses to advise students.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
