Position Title:

Lecturer of Psychology Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a Full‑Time Lecturer to begin in the Fall 2026 semester. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching various experimental courses at the undergraduate level, including research methods, statistics, cognition, learning, physiological, or social psychology.

Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in Psychology. A preference will be given to candidates with a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university prior to the start date. Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree by the start date of the position.

Candidates are expected to have previous experience and education in statistics and research methods. Instructors with training and/or experience in online instruction are encouraged to apply, although the primary teaching responsibilities are expected to be for face‑to‑face instruction.

• Teach 6–8 undergraduate courses per academic year (with the possibility of additional courses during the summer, if desired, and the potential for teaching graduate courses if the candidate meets the qualifications).
• Present a working knowledge of relevant curricula.
• Mentor undergraduate students, as appropriate.
