To act as a model for Life Drawing classes within the context of an educational environment. The model will be required to sustain poses both standing and seated for prolonged periods of time, take direction from the professor leading the class, and may also be asked to select their own pose. The drawing classes cover the study of the anatomy of the figure and the model should be comfortable with poses both clothed and unclothed.
The model will work in a practical studio environment with a range of equipment and materials present in the room. The role requires the model to act with care and awareness of their surroundings.
- Sustain seated and standing poses for prolonged periods of time.
- Have excellent time‑keeping skills and arrive in time for sessions.
- Provide prior notice if unable to attend a session to the course professor.
- Confidently select own seated or standing poses when asked.
- Be comfortable posing fully clothed and fully unclothed.
- Immediately stop and inform the tutor if a pose becomes uncomfortable.
- Alert the professor to any potential difficulties or health issues that might affect ability to model.
- Take responsibility for having a suitable cover/dressing gown between poses and when moving in the art room.
- Alert the professor if the room temperature is unsuitable for modelling or other environmental issues that may affect ability to model.
- Work in silence for prolonged periods of time.
- Communicate in a professional manner with students and staff and maintain high standards of conduct and behavior.
- Report any unacceptable behavior to the professor.
- Take responsibility for completing a timesheet of hours (as provided by SHSU) and ensuring all dates and hours claimed are correct.
