Job Title: Special Education Statewide Liaison Coordinator
Job Goal:
This position is responsible for providing professional development and differentiated and targeted support assistance to local districts based on their unique needs and goals.
Education:
- Master’s degree in education or a related field
Certifications:
- Supervisor, mid-management, or administrator certification (preferred)
- Texas Special Education Certification (Optional)
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Strong project management background
- Background as an educator, and/or administrator, with data analysis, problem identification, root cause analysis, and potential solutions to benefit all student populations
- High expectations for student achievement for all student populations
- Experience leading and managing adults, and/or experience in working successfully on a team
- Successful experience in, and affinity toward, collaboration and learning from multiple sources. Should be paired with the ability to reflect a strong leadership capacity
- Experience providing successful professional development
- Strong abilities in communication with diverse groups of stakeholders
- Highly professional written and verbal communication is evident
- Proactive, professional communication and collaboration
- Frequent travel is required
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of recent experience as an administrator, instructional coach or any similar leadership role
Special Education Liaisons Performance Measures:
Essential Function #1
- 80% of LEAs identified through RDA as Determination Level (DL) 2, 3, or 4 are engaged and receiving support from ESC SPED Liaisons.
Activities:
- Assess and agree to the support and assistance to be made available to each individual site and/or collectively to several sites.
- Schedule virtual and onsite meetings based on the goals of the team and stakeholders.
- Tailor support based on needs of the team and systems stakeholders.
- Assess the effectiveness of the level of support in meeting needs, goals, and context of the implementation effort.
Essential Function #2
- 80% of LEAs who receive technical assistance and support from ESC liaisons show evidence the LEA’s need was met as evidenced in the LEA Survey.
Activities:
- Provide Technical Assistance to LEA Stakeholders by connecting them to resources, individuals, and/or providing support.
- Maintain ongoing communication with LEAs to support implementation efforts.
- Assess the effectiveness of the level of support in meeting needs, goals, and context of the implementation effort
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Equipment used:
- Computer and applied software
- Standard office equipment, including personal computers and peripherals
Working Environment:
- Work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Prolong sitting; occasional lifting, bending/stopping and pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
- Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Frequent region-wide and occasional statewide travel
- May work prolonged or irregular hours
- Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
