Educational And Experience Requirement
Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Programs - College of Health Sciences. Earned doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline represented in the College of Health Sciences, a record of high-quality performance as an educator, evidence of scholarly achievement, and experience in administration at the college or university level. Must demonstrate human relations and managerial skills and an understanding of the disciplines that comprise the College.
Candidates should have a documented record of experience sufficient to warrant appointment at the Full Professor rank in one of the Colleges tenure units.

The Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Programs is a critical member of the colleges administrative leadership team and participates in university-wide initiatives. The Associate Dean is expected to assist the Dean of the College of Health Sciences in dealing with the needs ofCOHSfaculty, staff, and students, and providing oversight and evaluation for college-wide initiatives.
Primary ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting the Dean of the College withCOHSgraduate programs portfolio support,COHSresearch activity support, general administration, accreditation support forCOHSgraduate programs, faculty matters,COHSorganization, internal and externalCOHScommunication, student matters, administration of scholarships, fiscal matters, and interacting with other colleges and divisions within the universe.
The Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research provides leadership for the Colleges research, graduate education, faculty development, and student success initiatives through directing and managing internal research programs and funding opportunities; supporting faculty research, scholarship, and grant development; serving as a liaison with university research and sponsored programs offices; overseeing faculty mentoring and development programs; providing leadership and oversight for graduate programs and graduate student success initiatives;
promoting undergraduate and graduate research activities; overseeing designated student success and outreach initiatives; supporting the development of new academic and clinical programs; and advancing the Colleges strategic priorities related to research productivity, external funding, and academic excellence. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrated experience fostering a culture of research and academic excellence, experience developing and fostering community partnerships and inter-university collaborations, and experience with academic program accreditation in health and human sciences is preferred.
The College consists of six departments:
Human Sciences, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Athletic Training, and Public Health, and one school (Nursing), housed on three campuses in Huntsville, Conroe, and The Woodlands. Currently there are over 90 full-time faculty members, 36 of whom are tenured/tenure-track. The universitys main campus is located in Huntsville, TX, one hour north of Houston, TX - the fourth largest metro area in the United States.
