Graduate Assistant – Athletics – NCAA Athletic Compliance

Position provides a stipend for tuition and fees to the university’s graduate program of choice, housing not included.

Post Grad

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the rules education program.
  • Research NCAA Division I information regarding interpretations.
  • Maintain compliance software (student‑athlete forms, recruiting activities, CARA logs, Time Management Plan, complimentary tickets, etc. in ARMS/Teamworks).
  • Conduct playing and practice season reviews.
  • Perform roster review and management.
  • Document seasons of competition and participation.
  • Review social media.
  • Monitor, report, and educate on Name, Image and Likeness.
  • Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of SHSU, the Department of Athletics, the NCAA, and all applicable conferences or associations.
  • Perform data entry, proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The position is for one year with the option of two years. Preferred start date is July–August, 2026.

The candidate must be a self‑starter with a desire and willingness to learn NCAA compliance. The position will be designed to provide first‑hand experience working with NCAA Division I bylaws and processes in an environment conducive to immersion in day‑to‑day workings of a Division I school. Integrity, as well as a mature, respectful, professional engagement and demeanor with student‑athletes and university personnel, is a must.

The candidate must also be accepted and enrolled into an accredited graduate or undergraduate program at SHSU.
