Role Summary

Our client, a leading provider of electrical power testing and engineering services, is seeking Electrical Field Service Technicians (Level II-IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment across utility, industrial, commercial, and data center environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced electrical testing professionals who enjoy field work, prioritize safety, and are looking to grow their careers within a technically advanced organization. Placement level and compensation are based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise. Candidates with strong hands-on apparatus testing experience are encouraged to apply, even if they are not currently certified.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Testing & Field Services
  • Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment in accordance with industry standards.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and evaluate:
    • Low- and medium-voltage switch gear
    • Power transformers
    • Circuit breakers
    • Protective relays and electrical protection systems
  • Follow established electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and applicable electrical safety standards.
  • Conduct electrical hazard assessments when required.
  • Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Analyze test data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Prepare detailed field service reports and testing documentation.
  • Provide timely project updates to internal teams and customers.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work independently or as part of a field service team depending on experience level.
  • Mentor junior technicians when applicable.
  • Support project execution while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • 2-8+ years of electrical testing or field service experience (level dependent)
  • Hands-on experience testing medium- and/or high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems
  • Familiarity with industry testing standards and electrical safety practices
  • Ability to interpret testing procedures and explain test results
  • Experience preparing field service reports and technical documentation
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% based on project needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as NETA Level II-IV
    , NICET Electrical Power Testing (EPT), or equivalent
  • Candidates without certifications who possess strong hands-on apparatus testing experience will also be considered
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment such as Megger, Doble, Omicron, SEL
    , or similar
  • Experience with PowerDB or comparable reporting software
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Experience leading field crews or mentoring junior technicians

  • Extensive hands-on electrical testing experience rather than solely electrical maintenance or construction backgrounds
  • Experience working with medium- and high-voltage equipment
  • Practical knowledge of industry-standard testing equipment
  • Ability to explain testing procedures, interpret results, and troubleshoot equipment independently
  • Experience producing comprehensive field service reports
  • Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset
Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time field-based position
  • Regional travel up to 50%, depending on project requirements
  • Typical travel schedule may involve weekday travel with weekends generally at home
  • Overtime opportunities available based on project demands
Compensation

Compensation is based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.

  • Level II
    - Approximately 2-4 years - $35-$60/hr
  • Level III
    - Approximately 5-8 years - $65-$75/hr
  • Level IV - 8+ years - $75-$85+/hr
