Adjunct Faculty – English (First-Year Composition and World Literature courses in-person at Union and Jersey City campuses)
Responsibilities- Teach assigned first‑year Composition and World Literature courses.
- Provide at least one hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each 3–4 credit class taught (additional 30 minutes for each additional class).
- Provide at least 30 minutes of availability outside of the classroom per week for teaching fewer than three credits.
- Schedule availability in person or virtually to accommodate student needs; may offer additional office hours at discretion.
- Use Learning Management System consistently with University guidelines.
- Master’s degree in English or a related field, or ABD/Ed.D./Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate.
- Teaching experience in college‑level courses (unless otherwise indicated).
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
- Official transcripts required before appointment.
- Paid at $2,100 per credit effective September 2025, $2,225 per credit effective September 2026.
- Additional $75 per credit starting in the 13th semester taught.
- Enrollment in state‑administered retirement plan when eligible.
- Eligibility for Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.
Employment requires teaching at any of Kean’s New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, including but not limited to Union, Toms River, Jefferson Township, Jersey City, Middletown Township, Manahawkin, Princeton, and Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
