Senior Civil Engineer; Land Development | Sioux Falls, SD

Position Overview

IMEG is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD to lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects, providing project direction, engineering solutions, and client advice to ensure positive outcomes. You will support project budget goals, training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

• Lead the design and analysis of civil engineering project features using Autodesk Civil 3D (or equivalent) to produce designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Train and support others in civil engineering software for modeling (e.g., traffic analysis, pipe networks) as related to the role’s responsibilities.
• Lead civil site design efforts and provide advanced technical oversight to the project team.
• Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships.
• Provide in‑process design reviews of civil infrastructure design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
• Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Provide technical training and mentoring; provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
• Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (including other engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
• Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
• Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
• Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills for civil infrastructure.
• Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills.
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
