Job Overview
Manager, Health, Safety & Environmental – Ethanol Plant (2600157) s role manages all aspects of environmental, health and safety, and regulatory compliance for the plant.
Responsibilities- Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of plant performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and permits under OSHA (including PSM), EPA, State Environmental Agency, TTB, FRA, and any other non-financial regulating body.
- Own overall management system structure for compliance assurance and integrate all compliance tools into plant operations.
- Ensure all plant modifications receive appropriate permitting approval in a timely manner, supporting the construction schedule and ensuring all plant/system changes are managed through the plant Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
- Maintain positive, proactive relationships with all regulatory contacts, creating easy communication flow and a positive view of the plant among regulators.
- Ensure systems are in place to provide complete compliance with all regulations.
- Ensure training systems provide a proper platform to promote ever-increasing standards for safe work execution.
- Create content and conduct training for plant personnel on safety and environmental topics.
- Work through plant leadership team to implement changes that increase performance in all HSE areas.
- Ensure all required compliance audits are performed, gaps are communicated and deficiency plans are developed and implemented.
- Develop leading and lagging measures that clearly articulate plant performance.
- Write monthly reports on accomplishments, gaps and improvement plan progress.
- Work collaboratively with Corporate HSE and other Valero site HSE personnel on HSE issues, policy development, etc.
- Oversee activities of the site HSE Specialist/Engineer and provide guidance as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Safety, or Environmental Sciences.
- Minimum of ten years of overall work experience in an operating industrial facility.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a Health, Safety, or Environmental role within an industrial facility subject to OSHA 1910 and applicable EPA regulations or comparable experience.
- Experience with state pollution control standards.
- Willingness and availability to work on‑site and in person.
