Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in the construction industry or in a similar field. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Leadership with financial management and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting
:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with company policies and accounting principles. - Accounting Operations
:
Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies. - Internal Controls
:
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. - Audit Support
:
Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits. Address auditor queries and implement recommendations as needed. - Financial Analysis
:
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data. - Compliance
:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. - Team Collaboration
:
Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support. Collaborate with the Leadership to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Coordinate accounting team of four including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Subcontracts.
- Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus. - Experience
:
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction setting. - Skills
:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Attention to Detail
:
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis. - Communication
:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely. - Problem-Solving
:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
