Performs selected physical therapy procedures and related tasks under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. Other duties may include documentation of treatment progress, modification of specific treatment in accordance with patient status within the plan of care, and supervision of Physical Therapy Technicians.

• Associate Degree with satisfactory completion of an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
• Current South Dakota licensure as a physical therapist assistant.
• Physical stamina requisite to lift, carry and/or otherwise move and manipulate the equipment used in evaluation and treatment.
• Physical stamina requisite to standing, walking, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting while transporting or transferring patients and performing treatments.
• Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and other persons involved with the patient's care.

• Work involves almost constant one‑to‑one contact with patients.
• Work is intermittently light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly) or heavy (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly) and is usually performed inside in a well‑lit, heated air‑conditioned space.
