Overview
This role performs MRI scans ordered by a healthcare provider to diagnose medical conditions while ensuring patients remain safe and comfortable throughout the exam. The technologist prepares patients, operates MRI equipment, administers contrast when needed, reviews images for quality, maintains accurate records, and follows strict MRI safety procedures while working with physicians, students, and other healthcare staff.
ScheduleThree 12‑hour days, daytime shift.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner.
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to obtain desired results, minimize anxiety, and ensure cooperation.
- Maintain knowledge of current MRI safety practices and apply them as part of daily practice.
- Assume responsibility for persons entering Zones I‑IV and verify consent/screening forms for all entering Zone IV.
- Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Choose appropriate pulse sequences and other parameters based on established protocols and clinical factors.
- Operate the MRI scanner and power injector to produce cross‑sectional images for diagnostic purposes.
- Administer contrast media orally and intravenously while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Document all information pertinent to MRI procedures in the electronic medical record, including medication reconciliation.
- Assist physicians with interventional procedures and provide practical instruction to students and partners.
- Evaluate images and data for technical quality, manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, and ensure proper identification.
- Perform independent high‑level MRI studies, including but not limited to cardiac studies, run‑offs, conditional device protocols, and procedural studies.
- Respond to emergencies, including initiating basic life support action when necessary.
Graduate of an accredited radiography program or an accredited MRI training program. Minimum 1–3 years of experience preferred; new graduates are considered.
Certification / License- ARRT (MR) if completed the MRI Primary pathway required upon hire.
- ARRT (R) with a requirement to obtain the MR credential within 2 years of hire.
- ARMRIT credential required upon hire only if the candidate does not hold ARRT.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

$34.45 – $51.68 per hour.
