State Radio Communications supports a statewide Motorola P25 Public Safety Radio System used by over 20,000 state, local, tribal and federal first responders and critical infrastructure support personnel. The team supports 60+ tower sites and two dispatch centers. State Radio Communications maintains the infrastructure and radios at the state level. The analyst and administrator will be involved in configuration, installation, testing, and monitoring RF and IP network communications equipment, as well as maintaining the physical tower site infrastructure and network.

Network level assignment, payrate, and classification will depend on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.

If hired in at the Network Analyst level primary duties will include:

  • radio configuration and security;
  • building, testing, and repairing radio system network components within parameters or a predetermined process;
  • gathering data to monitor, document, analyze, and interpret network performance and systems;
  • installing and testing network equipment and systems, including routine maintenance activities, capacity analysis, and root‑cause analysis on incidents and outages;
  • generating and completing service tickets for vendor support;
  • assisting users/vendors with P25 radio system‑related inquiries;
  • configuring, installing, optimizing, and testing mobile and portable radios;
  • maintaining inventory and asset management;
  • performing general RF tower site maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspection duties including but not limited to: general electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems, trunked radio system equipment and antennas with associated testing meter equipment, security camera equipment, and drone inspection;
  • installing and repairing radio, lights, and siren equipment in vehicles including power, coaxial cable, antenna equipment, brackets, and accessories with no damage to any vehicle equipment.
Duties

If hired in at the Network Administrator level, duties in this classification will be similar; however, project complexity and oversight may change. Additional duties may include but are not limited to:

  • assisting with establishment and enforcement of state radio system best practices, policies, and standards;
  • assisting with root‑cause analysis on issues and outages;
  • identifying technical network requirements to support stakeholder needs;
  • interacting with network vendors for technical support within existing vendor agreements;
  • investigating new products and technologies relevant to assigned network under the direction and guidance of network engineers;
  • monitoring radio network and key performance indicators (KPI);
  • troubleshooting hardware and software problems by analyzing a chain of events and following established procedures and standards;

This position is vital to the high availability of a mission‑critical public safety radio system.
