Job Overview

Join our team as a Welder (1st shift) located in Huron, SD. Working Monday‑Thursday 6am‑4:30pm, you will transform raw steel into structural components for our utility trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fit, tack, and weld steel components for aerial devices and digger derricks using GMAW/FCAW processes, following approved weld procedures and engineering drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, WPS, set up jigs/fixtures, prep and finish welds (grinding/chipping), and perform in‑process checks to meet specifications at first attempt.
  • Follow Terex “Zero Harm” safety expectations, required PPE, hot‑work controls, LOTO, and maintain a clean, hazard‑free work area.
  • Use overhead cranes and material‑handling equipment to stage, position, and transfer parts safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and the team to solve problems, reduce rework, and support continuous improvement and 5S.
  • Participate in training, including weld school/skills development and, as applicable, robotic welding to advance skills and progress through defined skill levels.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience welding steel using GMAW (MIG) and/or FCAW in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of weld quality standards and ability to perform basic visual inspections.
  • Ability to safely use overhead cranes, hoists and material‑handling equipment (or willingness to be trained).
  • Strong commitment to safety, consistent use of PPE and adherence to hot‑work requirements.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift, push, pull, and position materials.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts, including weekends when required.
  • Preferred:
    Technical diploma or coursework in welding or fabrication; experience welding structural or heavy‑gauge steel; familiarity with AWS welding standards; experience in a team‑based manufacturing environment; willingness to learn additional processes such as robotic welding.
Compensation

Salary range: $23.41 to $28.64 per hour.
