Tooling and Fixturing Technician – Huron, SD (M‑TH 6:00am – 4:30pm). Join our team at Terex and embark on an exciting opportunity as a skilled and dedicated technician who will implement tooling and fixturing solutions that eliminate waste, improve safety, reduce cycle times, solve quality issues, and lower costs.

Responsibilities
  • Design new jigs and fixtures using Solid Works based on requests from our Fabrication, Machining, and Welding departments.
  • Attach new jig and fixture drawings to proper part numbers in the Solid Works vault to help flag future changes that may be needed from Engineering Change Orders.
  • Conduct design review of new jigs and fixtures prior to manufacturing with the appropriate stakeholders and end users to ensure all safety, ergonomics, and machine guarding requirements are met.
  • Create item masters, product structures, routes, and work orders in TMS for fixture projects.
  • Use Tool Room database to initiate, update, and close work orders and to update Tool & Fixture PMs.
  • Machine parts for jigs and fixtures that cannot be made in the shop using manual mill, lathe, saws, welder, radial drill, and other equipment.
  • Utilize precision tools to measure and ensure quality of all jig and fixture projects.
  • Assemble, prove out, and install jigs and fixtures for safety, accuracy, and quality.
  • Verify acceptable quality of all jig and fixtures produced in the Tool Room and correct any quality issues as needed.
  • Train and assist line team members on using jigs and fixtures as required.
  • Support safety projects – build, test, and install equipment to improve safety.
  • Assist in relocating shop equipment as needed to meet production requirements.
  • Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform daily machine guarding audits, SOP inspections, crane inspections, and 5S audits in the Tool Room Department to maintain equipment and area.
  • Escalate issues as needed for resolution.
  • Ensure consumables, supplies, and materials are available; assist with reordering as needed.
  • Enter purchase requisitions into TMS.
  • Participate in problem‑solving activities and engage in conversations to find effective solutions.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Advanced Vocational Technical training in machining and welding or Tooling & Fixturing preferred.
  • Ability to run manual mill and lathe (required).
  • Ability to run and program a 3‑axis CNC mill (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Solid Works CAD software (required).
  • 2+ years related work creating fixtures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes:
    Assembly, Welding, Fabrication and Machining.
  • Welding certification preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics (preferred).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail; focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team morale.
  • Problem‑solving and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic level competency using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

The salary range for this position is $25.77 – $35.20 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This description is non‑exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned in accordance with the role.
