The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for infection prevention and control policies, personal protective equipment use, basic health care activities, vital sign monitoring, psychosocial support, transfer techniques, range‑of‑motion exercises, food preparation, and housekeeping.
The NA documents resident interactions, communicates changes in condition, and may participate in committees and task forces.
- Day Shift: 6am to 2:30pm
- Every other weekend/holiday required
- Additional weekend differential
Good Samaritan Society – Canistota is a 55‑bed facility that provides rehabilitation and senior living, located about 30 minutes from Sioux Falls.
Qualifications- High school graduate or GED (preferred but not required)
- Minimum age of 16
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care (preferred)
- CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing within four months of starting the position, or enrollment in a CNA training program
- Completes yearly competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually)
- When applicable, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- May qualify as a Sanford Category II Driver if required (must hold a valid driver’s license and pass a medical evaluation per the Sanford Driving Policy)
