OVERVIEW

Oversees and coordinates patient care activities of assigned nursing unit to maintain and enhance quality of patient care.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday.

Shift: Clinic hours unless needed otherwise.

Location:

Walworth Hospital & Medical Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform duties of an LPN.
  • Revise, develop and implement policies and procedures and monitor compliance.
  • Interview, supervise and evaluate personnel of assigned units.
  • Schedule unit personnel to assure efficient patient flow.
  • Participate in planning and promoting public relations.
  • Maintain flexibility to work alternate shifts.
  • Manage departmentalized budgets involving staff and materials.
  • Participate in planning and implementing PI's and Quality initiatives.
  • Work overtime as required on a regular basis.

Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR Wisconsin: have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.
  • Illinois: have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
  • Three years of LPN experience in a clinical setting, preferably with supervisory experience.
Certification and Licensure
  • Valid Wisconsin LPN License.
  • CPR Certification.
  • AHA courses such as Heartsaver or Heart Code do not meet Mercyhealth standards.
Skills and Abilities

Special Physical Demands

The special physical demands are considered essential job functions. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk and lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.

Level of Supervision

Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; ensuring adherence to annual education and certification requirements.
