JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a General Farm Assistant / Farm Labor for a progressive, diversified South Dakota farm, ranch, and cattle feeding operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable individual who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, working with livestock, and being part of a diversified agricultural operation. This is a true all-around farm position. The successful candidate will work alongside the owner and other employees and will have the opportunity to gain experience in farming, cattle, equipment, hauling, maintenance, and general agricultural operations.

Up to $58,000 per year DOE?

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous farm, ranch, livestock, construction, equipment, or general labor experience preferred, but will consider motivated candidates with a strong work ethic

Hard working, dependable, and willing to learn

Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to work flexible hours during planting, haying, harvest, and other busy seasons

Comfortable working around cattle and livestock

Basic equipment operating experience is a plus Mechanical aptitude is a plus

Good driving record preferred

Willingness to help wherever needed?

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will vary throughout the year and may include:

General farm labor

General grounds and facility maintenance

Fence and pasture work Cleaning and maintaining equipment

Helping keep the farm and livestock areas clean and organized

Loading and unloading materials

General shop assistance

May help with day-to-day livestock management, including feeding and monitoring cattle, handling animal movement, maintaining facilities and pens, and assisting with cow-calf and spring calving projects.

Assisting with seasonal projects

Other duties as needed?

They are willing to train the right person who has the right attitude and work ethic. Previous livestock experience is helpful but not required. They can teach the livestock side to the right individual, but the candidate must be comfortable around cattle and willing to work with livestock. Someone with previous tractor, truck, loader, combine, or farm equipment experience will have an advantage, but the employer is willing to train someone who demonstrates mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Someone who starts as a general farm laborer and demonstrates reliability, mechanical aptitude, equipment skills, or livestock ability can potentially grow into a more specialized position over time. They will work with the successful candidate to help locate housing in the surrounding area, although housing will ultimately be the employee's responsibility.??
