Position:
CWI Quality Engineer – Terex Utilities, Huron, SD.
Reports to:
Quality Manager.
- Provide support and administration of the company’s quality systems.
- Lead nonconformance reviews to identify root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and maintain dashboard‑style reports to track nonconformance issues, project status, and progress against critical success indicators.
- Drive quality improvements for design and manufacturing using data‑based decision making and rapid problem resolution.
- Analyze the effectiveness of the quality system and coordinate quality‑related issues with other departments, suppliers, and customers.
- Evaluate current quality monitoring methods, systems, and tools; develop and implement new solutions to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Promote the use of statistical analysis to determine improvements and support risk mitigation.
- Implement quality plans for new or revised materials and/or products.
- Support line audits, first‑article inspections, and receiving inspection functions.
- Evaluate work methods, procedures, and policies while coaching and mentoring functional groups on quality processes.
- Collaborate with supply chain, product development, and third‑party manufacturers.
- Support new product development teams.
- Generate training materials and programs and conduct training sessions to support the quality system.
- Ensure all products are manufactured in compliance with product requirements, safety standards, and design specifications, including fixture and tooling analysis.
- Identify systemic weaknesses and lead initiatives to implement corrective action.
- Work with manufacturing and engineering to develop plans for continual improvement of product and process quality.
- Provide support to groups and departments concerning product quality issues, measurement data, techniques, and performance.
- Develop inspection programs and operate portable CMM arms for highly accurate dimensional analysis of manufactured parts.
- Develop and oversee welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR), ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Schedule and oversee on‑site equipment calibrations while managing ordering, tracking, and documentation of measurement devices.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
- 2+ years of industrial experience.
- Quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to influence and coordinate assignments among multiple support groups.
- Advanced data compilation and analysis skills.
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability determination.
- Technical expertise to identify root cause through data analysis.
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement improvements quickly.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to teach other team members.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to evaluate product and process change requests to ensure product quality is not compromised.
- Ability to work well under compressed time constraints.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of precision measurement instruments.
- Hands‑on manufacturing/engineering experience in a fabrication/assembly shop environment.
- Experience supporting an ISO quality system.
- Ability to eliminate quality challenges using poke‑yokes and zero‑QC techniques.
- Welding process knowledge.
Salary: $76,500–$93,500 annually. Eligible for performance bonus.
