Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Cashier
Location:
589 Hamlin Highway.
- Keep Deli service areas well stocked and appealing at all times to meet customer demands.
- Smile and greet customers, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly, politely, and professionally.
- Ensure freshness and proper condition of merchandise in display cases with correct pricing and signage.
- Properly rotate products and handle spoiled or damaged items according to company procedures.
- Operate slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences.
- Package items and apply stickers showing price, weight, and date.
- Prepare ready‑to‑eat foods to individual customer orders.
- Prepare platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays, ensuring safe use of knives and utensils.
- Adhere to company recipes and safety policies when preparing food such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other hot or cold items.
- Operate cash register as required and follow procedures to ensure proper money handling and avoid cash overages or shortages.
- Follow company and state laws related to tobacco and alcohol sales.
- Maintain general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
- Disposal of trash properly.
- Assist in inventory control through time and temperature practices, minimizing losses by returning products to refrigeration, properly handling products, keeping necessary logs, and following company recipes.
- Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained).
- Ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co‑workers and superiors, continuously improving job performance, and utilizing all company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company‑sponsored footwear.
- May be called upon to assist in other departments.
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualification Requirements- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) completed or in progress.
- No prior experience required.
