Plug Power is looking for a National Account Sales Director to engage directly with prospective customers and communicate the value of our fuel cell system technology. The role focuses on cultivating business relationships, driving revenue growth, and representing the company with integrity and enthusiasm across the material handling industry.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Generate leads and identify prospective customers for Plug Power fuel cell system technology and our Gen Key package.
  • Make regular contact with prospective customers to effectively communicate Plug Power’s value statement and cultivate business relationships.
  • Engage prospective customers through progressive sales steps to earn confidence and work toward purchase agreement.
  • Utilize tools and resources such as fuel‑cell system trials, site tours, stakeholder meetings, customer testimonials, and ROI examples to secure purchase orders.
  • Use available data to forecast budgets for financial and manufacturing purposes.
  • Manage existing customer relationships, maximize satisfaction, address concerns, and provide cross‑functional feedback to improve system technology.
  • Develop a long‑term plan for existing customer locations to increase business relationships, ensuring continual revenue and long‑term ROI.
  • Engage cross‑functional partners, including senior management, to develop strategic marketing and sales programs.
  • Take ownership of customer account satisfaction and coordinate cross‑functional efforts to deliver on commitments.
  • Work toward exceeding sales goals and collaborate with peers to share knowledge and experience.
  • Provide relevant data and feedback from sales interactions to stakeholders to improve operations.
  • Communicate with internal departments to ensure understanding of field sales processes that impact metrics.
  • Help implement new design specifications through partnership with production and engineering.
  • Demonstrate superior project management to clear roadblocks and drive project implementation.
  • Represent Plug Power with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor within the course of business.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • BS or BA degree in engineering, marketing, business, or related field.
  • Salesforce proficiency preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant sales experience; experience in the material handling industry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% as required.
  • Dynamic, persuasive, and energetic communication abilities.
  • Business acumen to articulate value statements to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Persistent lead generation and customer development skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management and team leadership.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Role model for high professional standards.
  • Results‑oriented and driven work style.
  • Excellent task‑oriented follow‑through.

Benefits and Compensation

Base salary commensurate with experience, with potential geographic differential.
