Some demonstrated work experience in the operation of equipment, experience with tandem trucks helpful. Must possess or obtain a valid Class B CDL within the required probationary period, in accordance with City policy.

Graduation from High School or accredited GED Certificate.

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (tires, oil, lubricants, water, air filters, lights, fuel).
• Perform daily and monthly greasing, and basic routine maintenance on assigned equipment; conduct minor repairs as needed.
• Operate refuse collection trucks on designated routes for waste and recycling collection.
• Serve as a backup for loader, baler, and scale operators when needed.
• Maintain drop‑off sites, rubble sites, and the transfer building.
• Sort and process public recyclables, rubble, appliances, and all materials managed by the Transfer Station, ensuring proper handling and disposal in accordance with established guidelines.
• Remove debris, tree branches, and other material from alleys and streets.
• Track assigned vehicle equipment inventory and assist in monitoring trash bin inventory by reporting conditions and needed replacements observed while on routes.
• Maintain records of mileage, fuel, and oil consumption.
• Assist customers throughout the day.
• Address customer complaints and report actions to the Supervisor.
• Report waste violations with date, time, and issue details.
• Assist with snow removal as needed.
