The Medical Assistant (MA) shall provide excellent customer service. The MA works collaboratively and professionally with the other clinical staff, under the direction of the supervisor and in collaboration of the Provider Team, for the effective and efficient delivery of medical care services. The duties of the Medical Assistant shall not exceed those duties permitted by Utah State Laws. The Medical Assistant is required to perform duties as outlined in this job description.

Required

Vaccines and Test:
  • Influenza, Tdap, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TB test, and Negative Drug Test results.
  • Additional Vaccines may be required.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Efficient preparation and timely documentation of patient information, medical procedures, and administrative tasks are essential for maintaining accurate electronic health records and ensuring smooth clinical operations.
  • Ensure safe and accurate lab operations by following protocols (CLIA, OSHA), managing, and drawing specimens, verifying lab reports, and proficiently conducting specialized testing procedures.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality, maintain current certifications, and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant healthcare environment.
  • Support continuous improvement in patient care by participating in quality initiatives, performing regular control checks, ensuring medication and supply safety, and completing all assigned quality tasks.
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care by preparing for exams, assisting in clinical procedures, administering medications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Facilitate timely access to care by scheduling follow-up appointments, coordinating with healthcare team members, and conducting follow-up calls for missed visits.
  • Ensure effective and professional communication by promptly responding to calls and messages, greeting patients courteously, and providing accurate information as needed.
  • Maintain strict infection control standards by thoroughly cleaning exam rooms, sterilizing instruments, and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Promote smooth clinic operations by collaborating with supervisors and team members, supporting other provider teams, and completing additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

Duties are generally performed in an office environment where hazards and discomforts are controlled and modifiable. This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel, reach over the head, talk, hear, and see. Must be able to move or lift documents and materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires knowledge and use of typical office equipment including telephones, copiers, fax machines, and personal computers.

Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees, patients, and community. Position may require travel to other sites for work assignments, meetings, or training.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and verifiable experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited Medial Assistant school preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Basic familiarity with medical routine and terminology.
  • Basic Life Support Certificate required upon hire.
  • Ability to work well as a team, exhibit integrity, use good judgment and keep confidential information.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality consistently.
  • Pass MA competency within the first 90 days and annually.
