Construction Inspector

Overview

Our Charleston (Hurricane) office is growing, and we're looking for inspectors and field technicians to join our award winning team. As a Construction Field Technician at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll support a diverse, local, community focused project schedule.

• Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt to ensure compliance with project specs.
• Use specialized equipment like nuclear density gauges and penetrometers
• Keep equipment clean, calibrated, and ready for action.
• Interact with contractors, engineers, and inspectors as a professional representative of CEC.
• Drive and maintain company vehicles to and from job sites.
• Write daily field reports, interpret project drawings/specs, and enter test data.
• Communicate with Project Managers to keep everything running smoothly.

• 3+ years of construction inspection experience;
• Hands-on experience inspecting and/or testing earthwork, concrete, asphalt, pavement, soil, and other similar materials;
• High school diploma required;
• Valid Driver s License for site travel using company vehicles required;
• Experience interpreting construction plans and specifications preferred;
• Capable of recording observations and test results in daily field reports required;
• NICET, ICC, ACI, and/or Nuclear Density Meter Safety Training Certifications required.

CEC Charleston is part of our West Virginia operations, which also includes offices in Bridgeport and Martinsburg. Opened in December 2023, CEC Charleston was born out of an opportunity to further serve the state of West Virginia. The establishment of the office is a show of our dedication and desire to provide client-focused, high-quality, innovative services to our clients. We are excited to present a full suite of engineering and environmental services to the region.
