American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with required orthopedic surgery experience for a 13-week assignment in West Virginia.
Details- Work in the Operating Room department of a short-term acute care hospital
- Ratio of 1 RN to 1 or 2 Surgical Techs
- 5x8 Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 6:50am-3:20pm
- On-call required 1-2 days per week plus one weekend of call per month
- No weekend shifts scheduled outside of call requirements
- No floating required outside of scope
- Uses CERNER, Omnicell, and Accudose charting/dispensing systems
- Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Orthopedic surgery experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required
- Experience with procedures including total joint replacement, arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and fracture reductions
- Knowledge of infection control, universal protocol/time out procedures, and specimen handling
- Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
- Provide perioperative nursing care across general OR, orthopedic, general surgery, and endoscopic procedures
- Support surgical teams with emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia procedures
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption is documented
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with 75-100 miles considered case-by-case at the same rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent employees of the health system must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of the broader health system (including affiliated hospitals) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
- Orientation held every other week
- No specific scrub color requirement specified
