We’re partnering with a growing mechanical construction company to hire a Senior Accountant who will quickly evolve into a Controller-level leader
.
This is a big-picture role
, not just transactional accounting. You’ll work closely with ownership to oversee financial operations, support field and project teams, and take on key responsibilities across HR, payroll, and compliance.

What You’ll Own- Oversee daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, and job cost tracking
- Partner with Project Managers on AIA billing, pay apps, and WIP reporting
- Manage cash flow, retainage, and collections with GC partners
- Lead month-end and year-end close
, including financial reporting and analysis - Support budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial planning
- Oversee payroll processing and coordination with HR/PEO partners
- Assist with HR functions
, including onboarding, benefits coordination, and employee records - Manage risk, insurance, and compliance documentation across projects
- Ensure adherence to government regulations, contract requirements, and construction compliance standards
- Handle lien waivers, notices, and Texas lien processes
- Help build and improve accounting and operational processes as the company scales
- 3–7+ years of accounting experience (construction strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of AIA billing, WIP, and job costing
- Experience with construction platforms (Procore, Textura, etc.) is a plus
- Exposure to payroll, HR support, or compliance/risk management
- Working knowledge of lien laws, insurance requirements, and regulatory compliance
- Strong Excel and systems proficiency
- Big-picture mindset with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
- Desire to grow into a Controller role
- Clear path to Controller within 12 months
- High visibility role working directly with ownership
