Responsibilities
- Conduct physical site surveys using a variety of equipment and tools
- Prepare sketches, notes, and perform electronic data collection
- Coordinate field crew and process field data
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Calculateareas of land parcels and easements using mathematics and computer software.
- Input and retrieve information from survey instruments.
- Compile data necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, drawings, sketches, and linked tracings.
- Lay out grids and determine horizontal and vertical controls
- Compare survey computations with applicable standards to determine adequacy of data.
- Collect data needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant data.
- Prepare topographical and contour maps of land surveyed, including site features and other relevant information such as charts, drawings, and survey notes.
- Operate and manage land‑information computer systems, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience using Trimble equipment and software products required (TSC3 & TSC7 Survey Data Collectors, DiNi, S6, & S7 Robotic Instruments, SX10 Scanner, R6, R8, and R10 GPS Receivers)
- Experience with, or ability to operate, Trimble (Geodimeter) robotic total stations and Trimble GPS systems
- Minimum of three years’ experience with land surveying procedures relative to Commercial, Industrial, Retail, and Municipal development projects including, but not limited to:
Boundary surveying, route surveys, construction surveys, land title surveys, topographic surveying, and control surveying - Thorough knowledge of total station, GPS and data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies is a plus
- Time management skills:
It will be necessary to plan your own and your team's time on each job - Experience with boundary, topographic, as-built surveys, construction staking, ROW staking, staking of electric distribution lines, staking electric transmission lines is a plus
- Able to perform well with minimal supervision in a team environment
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must pass pre‑employment background check and drug screen
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
- Entry level position for dependable individual with positive attitude that enjoys the outdoors.
