Job SummaryThe EHS/QC Coordinator works as a partner with all facets of operations to analyze the manufacturing process to eliminate hazards. This individual will work closely with management, providing guidance, insight, and consultation regarding OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations. They will assist employees in identifying and correcting hazards, establishing best safe practices, and training/coaching employees. The role is responsible for the daily safety and environmental requirements associated with each crew and will have the support of regional managers, operational leaders, and EHS directors.
Job Responsibilities- Identify hazards using the Oldcastle Near Miss Potential Hazard program
- Work with operations and management to establish corrective and preventative actions to eliminate hazards
- Complete required incident investigations, input analysis, and track corrective and preventative actions
- Use accepted methods to inspect, sample and test aggregates, asphalt, concrete or other materials for the purpose of quality control
- Operate production machinery as needed to prepare product samples
- Sample and test mixtures for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance
- Maintain safety records and prepare safety reports as directed
- Prepare and assist in the preparation and submittal of permit applications to the proper regulatory agencies
- Provide support to site construction management in developing and implementing new programs, new permits, and new equipment
- Enter and maintain safety related data into Oldcastle’s software
- Inspect work environment, machinery, and equipment in establishments and other work sites for conformance with standards
- Observe employees and determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used
- Halt any unsafe action or work
- Ensure all inspections and meetings are completed each month
- Maintain air, water, hazardous waste, and any other permit compliance
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience or education in maintaining OSHA and EPA compliance
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented
- Verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with other company administrative, production and technical personnel at all levels to achieve plant and business goals
- Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds
- Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching
- Standing for an extended period of time
