This position is located in Hutchinson.
RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions –
- Work closely with representatives of Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF) and the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) following their policies and being responsive to student needs.
- Conduct classes for students who need basic instruction of math, grammar, writing and basic computer skills at HCF locations as assigned.
- Work with the Adult Education program coordinator in implementing curriculum and documenting student progress. This will include evaluation of materials and teaching methods.
- Submit appropriate paper work (pre/posttests, referrals, GED ready scores, and student evaluations) to program coordinator for quarterly reports and to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Attend staff development activities as assigned.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Education Coordinator or the Director of the Business and Industry Institute.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preferred education background including education and/or social sciences.
- Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
- Proven people‑skills and able to develop effective working relationships with college personnel as well as correctional students.
- Strong written/oral communication and listening skills as well as organizational, decision‑making, problem‑solving, interpersonal skills.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Physical requirements:
Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment, tact, and courtesy in difficult situations; ability to understand words and respond effectively/appropriately; light/indoor work environment. - Mental requirements include ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full‑time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at‑will, and exempt.
