University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded professional to join our team as a Community Based Instructor 3 supporting the 4-H Youth Development Program in Pershing County. This is an in-person position based out of Lovelock, NV. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to help young people develop leadership, life, and workforce readiness skills while building meaningful connections with volunteers, families, schools, and community partners throughout Pershing County.
The successful candidate will be passionate about working with youth, enjoy building relationships within the community, and possess strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

What You’ll DoAs a key member of the Extension team, you will coordinate and support a variety of youth development programs that enrich the lives of local youth and strengthen community engagement.
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and supporting adult volunteers who deliver 4-H programming throughout the county
- Developing strategies to recruit and engage youth in 4-H programs and activities
- Coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating school-based and after-school youth programs
- Assisting with curriculum implementation and program development to meet community needs
- Organizing and supporting 4-H events, activities, workshops, and educational opportunities
- Building collaborative partnerships with Extension faculty and staff, county personnel, schools, community organizations, and families
- Supporting continuous program improvement through planning, evaluation, and assessment efforts
- Providing training and support to after-school educators and youth program providers

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
This position requires candidates to complete a fingerprinting/background check.
Candidates with experience working with youth, volunteers, schools, community organizations, or after-school programs are encouraged to apply.
ScheduleThis position works a flexible, variable schedule based on program and community needs. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are required to support youth programs, volunteer training, and community events.

CompensationGrade 27 (Entry, Step 01). In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
