JOB SUMMARY:

Mechanical Engineers work under general direction, applying their skills to generate solutions that require either development or implementation of new or improved procedures, systems or products. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion. FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED:
• Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials
• Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
• Produce details of specifications and outline designs
• Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication processes
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations, ASME codes, and all other applicable codes and standards.
• Work with the drafting department to ensure timely completion of projects
• Complete special projects as directed by the VP of Engineering and President
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies.
• Performs other related duties as required PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have a high level of technical, mathematical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge in a manufacturing environment
• Must have good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people, including customers, vendors, and other employees in the office and on the production floor
• Must have precise and concise verbal and written communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented with good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Must have/develop a working knowledge of ASME CODES (Pertaining to pressure vessel design
• Must have the ability to work well within a team and assume a leadership role when required
• Must have IT skills, particularly computer-aided design, drafting procedures, spreadsheets and word documents
• Must have organizational skills, such as time and resource planning and the ability to work under pressure
• Must be physically capable of the rigors of the position both in the office and the production floor, able to lift at least 30 pounds without assistance
• Must have at least a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience as well as experience in drafting
• Capable of maintaining regular attendance at work
