Coordinates activities of workers responsible for preparing shipments by planning and directing all activities within the release side of the Shipping Department. Works closely with the Shipping Supervisor to identify schedules and assists employees with work‑process problems.

• Promotes a safe work environment and ensures all employees in the Shipping Department follow safety rules and regulations.
• Accountable for staffing, training, motivation and leadership within the area of responsibility.
• Develops a teamwork environment and builds departmental standards for performance.
• Establishes and maintains procedures for determining and meeting company and customer delivery commitments through effective use of time.
• Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company.
• Follows shipping methods and resolves issues for expedited deliveries to customers and/or job sites.
• Interfaces with other departments to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of order cancellations.
• Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
• Identifies roadblocks to processes and procedures and offers suggestions for improvement.
• Verifies quantity and quality of order before packaging and shipping.
• Attentive to detail and records shipping information for each customer, including weight, tracking information and special notation.
• Secures package contents to prevent damage and breakage, affixing shipping labels and special handling instructions orderly.
• Reads and understands job traveler and verifies graphics per customer order.
• Operates the Pacejet shipping system, band saw, banding equipment and floor jacks.
• Uses proper lifting techniques, obtains help for heavy weights and avoids awkward body positions.
• Works in the stocking program side of shipping, putting part numbers on the shelf and releasing them as needed.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems, keeping all work areas clear of clutter and equipment.
• Participates in year‑end and general inventory procedures as requested and reports any defective graphic or shortage to the Shipping Supervisor.

• Accesses information on a computer efficiently.
• Willing to be trained on operation of an electric pallet jack and/or forklift.
• Interprets data sheets accurately.
• Organized and able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
• Works under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Gives directions and switches jobs if necessary before completion.
• Multi‑tasks effectively.
• Takes initiative and demonstrates leadership.

• Clean working area.

Occasional reaching across midline, fingering, feeling, stooping or kneeling; occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 63 lbs.; frequent walking, change of position, reaching, handling; frequent use of arm and firm grasp; constant standing.

Full‑time;
Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day. Additional hours may be required to meet customer deadlines.
