Job SummaryCoordinates activities of workers responsible for preparing shipments by planning and directing all activities within the release side of the Shipping Department. Works closely with the Shipping Supervisor to identify schedules and assists employees with work‑process problems.

- Promotes a safe work environment and ensures all employees in the Shipping Department are following safety rules and regulations.
- Accountable for staffing, training, motivation, and leadership within area of responsibility.
- Develops a team‑work environment and builds departmental standards for performance.
- Establishes and maintains procedures for determining and meeting company and customer delivery commitments by effective use of time.
- Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company.
- Follows shipping methods.
- Resolves issues for expedited deliveries to the customer and/or job site.
- Interfaces with other departments to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of order cancellations.
- Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly.
- Identifies roadblocks to processes and procedures and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Verifies quantity and quality of order before packaging and shipping.
- Must be attentive to detail.
- Records information for each customer shipped out including weight, tracking information, and special notation.
- Secures the package contents to prevent damage and breakage.
- Affixes shipping labels on packaging as well as any special handling instructions in an orderly fashion.
- Reads and understands job traveler and verifies graphics per customer order.
- Learns how to operate the Pacejet shipping system.
- Operates the band saw, banding equipment, and floor jacks.
- Knows proper lifting techniques and seeks help with heavy weights, avoiding awkward body positions.
- Works in the stocking program side of shipping.
- Puts part numbers on the shelf and releases part numbers from the shelf.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems.
- Keeps all work areas clear of clutter and equipment.
- May be asked to take part in year‑end and general inventory procedures.
- Reports any defective graphic or shortage to Shipping Supervisor.
- Accesses information on a computer.
- Willing to be trained on the operation of an electric pallet jack and/or forklift.
- Interprets data sheets.
- Is organized and can work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Works under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Gives directions and switches jobs if necessary before completion.

Full‑time;
Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day. Additional hours may be required to meet customer deadlines.
