SummaryLay out, fits, and welds fabricated components to assemble structural frames such as machinery bases. Provide a quality product for our customer.
Location Hours What You'll Do- Fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel components used in world-class roll forming and coil processing equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding specifications, bills of material, and work instructions.
- Plan work sequences and determine the most efficient methods for layout, fit-up, assembly, and welding.
- Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on a variety of fabricated steel components, including multi-pass welds when required.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, weld positioners, robotic welding equipment, and related fabrication tools.
- Position, align, clamp, bolt, and tack-weld components to ensure proper fit and dimensional accuracy.
- Inspect completed work to verify compliance with print specifications, weld quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot fit-up and fabrication issues and collaborate with teammates and supervisors to identify solutions.
- Repair, modify, and rework fabricated components as needed.
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes/hoists, grinders, press brakes, shears, and other shop equipment.
- Cross-train in other manufacturing areas to support production needs and expand skills.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Working knowledge of MIG (GMAW) welding processes.
- Ability to accurately use measuring and inspection tools, including tape measures, calipers, combination squares, protractors, and weld gauges.
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions.
- Ability to work independently while meeting quality and production expectations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience welding and fabricating structural steel or heavy equipment components.
- Experience with robotic welding systems.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Previous experience in a custom manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Technical school, vocational training, or welding certification preferred.
- Previous MIG welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience performing multi-pass welding on heavy plate steel is a plus, but we are willing to train motivated candidates with the right attitude and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift, move, and position materials in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
- Must provide basic hand tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and a desire to continuously develop welding and fabrication skills.
- Flexibility to work in different production areas as business needs require.
