Description:

Position in a 25-bed medical telemetry unit.

The unit primarily cares for renal, urology, oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, and general medical-surgical patients.

Focus on safety and quality with high expectations for documentation compliance.

Processes related to central lines, Foley catheters,

C. difficile, and other hospital-acquired infections are emphasized.

Teamwork and support from charge nurses are prioritized.

Patient ratios are generally 4-5 patients per nurse.

Unit staffing includes both unit secretaries and technicians.

Available equipment includes EKG machines, bladder scanners, sit-to-stand lifts, Hoyer lifts, hover mats, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis systems.

Documentation is managed through a specified electronic medical record system.

Staff will be required to work a minimum of every third weekend and three shifts per week.

Floating to similar units may occur.

Patient experience metrics focus on nurse explanation and courtesy.

Daily leader rounds are conducted for all patients, with a pre-round process to establish personal connections.

Post rounds involve coaching based on patient feedback.

Monitoring of patient rooms includes whiteboard usage, tidiness, safety, and quality measures.

The unit has achieved certifications, including a Primary Stroke Center and Colorectal Center of Excellence.

Basic medical-surgical procedures are performed on the unit.

Standard uniforms consist of royal blue scrub tops and royal blue or black pants.

The unit features an unencumbered charge nurse and clinical educator.

Known for advancements in robotic surgeries and innovative technology.
