Summary

We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to serve as a Substitute Bus Driver at our Bus Barn. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students and staff on an as‑needed basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to adapt to varying schedules and routes.

Pay is based on experience. Job will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a school bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Transport students and staff to and from designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bus interior and exterior.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a positive transportation experience.
  • Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus safely, including helping younger or special needs students as necessary.
  • Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow established routes and schedules, while being flexible to accommodate changes as needed.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Uphold the values and policies of the school district while serving as a positive role model for students.
Requirements
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a school bus.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Previous experience driving a bus or working with children is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the well‑being of students.
  • Must pass background check, physical, and TB test.
  • Physical ability to assist students and perform necessary duties related to the operation of the bus.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
