Transportation Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Transportation Mechanic to join our team at the Bus Barn. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of buses and transportation vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

Pay is based on experience. Job remains open until filled.

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buses and transportation vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose mechanical issues using specialized tools and equipment, and develop effective repair strategies.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
• Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs to enhance vehicle performance and reliability.
• Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation mechanics.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive or transportation mechanics preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably with buses or heavy-duty vehicles.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; maintain qualifications as a school bus driver, to be available for driving.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in transportation vehicles.
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Certification from a recognized automotive or transportation organization is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a background check, physical, and TB test.
