We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Transportation Mechanic to join our team at the Bus Barn. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of buses and transportation vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Pay is based on experience. Job remains open until filled.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buses and transportation vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using specialized tools and equipment, and develop effective repair strategies.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs to enhance vehicle performance and reliability.
- Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation mechanics.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive or transportation mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably with buses or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; maintain qualifications as a school bus driver, to be available for driving.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in transportation vehicles.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Certification from a recognized automotive or transportation organization is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a background check, physical, and TB test.
