Long-term Special Education Assistant Substitute
Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking a long-term special education assistant substitute at Park Elementary from approximately August 31, 2026 - December 13, 2026. As a special education assistant, you will assist individual students who are on an individual educational plan (IEP) by providing support, explanation, re-teaching, and instructional help for students. This position will work 6.33 hours per day. The salary range for this position is $19.59 per hour - $22.09 per hour.
Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
Responsibilities include:
carrying out the IEP goals as designed by the teacher, helping to reinforce teachings of the classroom teacher by working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping students to strengthen skills to become more independent, assisting the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management, observing, recording, and charting behaviors, conferring and planning with teachers to recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem solving, helping the classroom teacher with recordkeeping of the student's progress, conducting informal assessments to measure students' mastery of learned materials as directed by the classroom teacher, and maintaining confidentiality standards by adhering to the district's data privacy policy.
Required qualifications (one of the following): associates degree 60 semester college credits, passing score on one of the state-approved tests (Para Educator or Para Pro).
