We will review applications as they are received. The position is open until filled. Hourly pay range: $17.74–$26.60 based on experience.
This position will work an estimated 30 hours EVERY OTHER WEEK from April 24 through October 19. The schedule is flexible within the following on‑site hours:
- Monday 11 AM–4 PM
- Thursday 1 PM–6 PM
- Friday 12 PM–7 PM and 9 PM–10 PM
- Saturday 10 AM–5 PM and 9 PM–10 PM
- Sunday 11 AM–3 PM
Hosts must camp on‑site EVERY OTHER WEEK and receive a free campsite throughout the season.
Position SummaryThe Campground Host is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to McLeod County Park guests.
Hosts must be self‑driven, able to work independently, and enjoy interacting with campers to ensure a positive experience. The host is expected to work during the weekends and holidays throughout the camping season.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality customer service ensuring visitors receive accurate and appropriate information in a welcoming, inclusive, and timely manner.
- Greet and interact with visitors at assigned locations and facilities.
- Facilitate camper check‑in processes as needed.
- Inform visitors of park procedures and policies.
- Provide information about park facilities and regional attractions.
- Provide support in the campground operation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the rules established by the McLeod County Parks Division.
- Provide custodial support, including campsites and restrooms, and notify Parks maintenance of facility repair, maintenance, and supply needs.
- Ensure the safety and security of the campground facility.
- Work with Parks staff to educate visitors about the Park Ordinance.
- Notify and work with local law enforcement when necessary.
- Comply with all campground and park policies and procedures established by McLeod County Parks.
- Operate hand tools and other mechanical devices safely.
- Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned.
- Perform job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license with proof of insurance.
- Customer service experience.
- Personal use of parks & campgrounds.
- Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Some knowledge of park operation and maintenance practices.
- Desk work involving the use of a computer, telephone, and other devices.
- Communicate effectively with County staff and the public.
- Ability to read screens and documents.
- Ability to drive in various light and weather conditions.
- Ability to type and use a computer or mobile device.
- Lift and carry material weighing up to 50 pounds.
