CIP Coordinator
The CIP Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the coordination and delivery of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Under the supervision of the CIP Engineer, this position coordinates assigned capital improvement projects and may manage smaller projects of limited complexity, while serving as the City's primary point of contact for utility coordination across all CIP projects. This position also supports continuous improvement of the City's CIP program by developing policies and procedures to help ensure that project delivery exceeds standards, schedules, and budgets.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates with public and private utility providers regarding utility conflicts, relocations, easement needs, and project schedules.
- Facilitates regular utility coordination meetings and tracks utility commitments and action items.
- Develops and maintains CIP policies, procedures, and project management tools
- Assists with implementation of departmental initiatives to improve consistency and efficiency
- May oversee 1-3 capital improvement projects at any given time through the oversight of project schedules and monitoring of budgets and specifications
- Assists with the delivery of assigned capital improvement projects from design through construction, including coordination with consultants, contractors, utilities, and internal departments.
- Assists in supervision and monitoring performance of third parties; assigning duties, scheduling work, and performance evaluation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to offer excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with stakeholders and co-workers.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, and codes that govern construction
- Skills in oral and written communication
- Ability to interpret plans, maps, and specifications and to recognize divergence of plans in construction items
- Knowledge of civil engineering processes and capital improvement project delivery
- Skills in developing policies and procedures for complex processes
- Experience in project management and coordination between multiple parties
- Skills in handling and prioritizing tasks
- Knowledge of utility coordination and right-of-way practices
Education, Experience, Licenses, &
Certifications:
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in capital improvement projects, public works, engineering, construction management, utility coordination, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of project management experience
- Valid Texas Drivers License
