What To Expect
Tesla’s Battery Metals and Materials group is looking for highly motivated chemical operators to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Scaling battery recycling is one of the most critical challenges of our time. You will assist in the day-to-day operation of a semi-works facility. Chemical Operators will focus on the efficient operation and maintenance of a recycling line during their shift.
They will be responsible for ensuring the line meets rate, product quality and performance benchmarks. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and safety mindsight. They must be adaptable, have good communication skills, and work well in fast-paced team environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating equipment, performing quality control testing, product packaging and loading/unloading finished goods and raw material.
You'll Do
- Communicate with Senior Chemical Operators and team members regarding safety, production, quality, and operational issues
- Conduct pilot plant runs/campaigns in accordance with all safety and standards by following written and verbal work instructions
- Follow procedures to safely and efficiently operate equipment related to the manufacturing of chemicals
- Use equipment and instrumentation to monitor pressure, temperature, and other conditions
- Perform quality control testing as required, calibrations on equipment, and maintain accurate documentation
- Maintain clean and safe work areas and complete required preventive maintenance
- Quantifiable production, process, or pilot lab experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate, calibrate and maintain chemical processing equipment in a safe manner
- Demonstrated experience with testing and documenting processes and results of experiments
- Must be able to operate forklifts and general material handling equipment
- Must be open and flexible to shift work
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently and repetitively bend, lift and reach
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
