Position: Heavy Haul Truck Driver (Hutto)

Position Overview for Haul Truck Driver

Key Responsibilities
  • Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe work practices and environment. Report any problems to your manager.
  • Perform daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with MSHA guidelines and company policies.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow instructions.
  • Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of the vehicle.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials, including manual unloading by hand or shovel when required.
  • Assure product quality to the best of the driver’s ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the foreman.
  • Keep the truck clean and orderly.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for self and co‑workers, using eye contact and hand signals when backing.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe work procedures.
  • Follow directions of manager regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
  • Assist in training less‑experienced employees on equipment operations, servicing, and fueling.
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education / Experience
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field preferred.
Work Requirements
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment "Fit for Work" physical.
  • Must provide valid documentation for the I-9 immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Work overtime when required.
  • Work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license that meets state requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the work environment.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, frequent lifting of extensions, chutes, stretching, sitting/driving, shifting gears, and covering/uncovering loads when applicable.
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Vision (with correction) includes close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.
  • Lift truck hood unassisted up to 50 pounds on an ongoing basis.
  • Climb in and out of the truck 3–4 steps (approximately 4+ feet) multiple times per day.
Work Environment
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high locations, outside weather, and risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • Noise level may be loud in some areas, typically moderate.
