Dental Hygienist

Dental Hygienist – Ellen Jones Community Dental Center (Dennis) / Harbor Community Health Center (Hyannis)

We are seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to provide preventive, educational, and therapeutic services supporting total health and oral disease control. The role will include assisting the dentist, reviewing medical histories, detecting oral diseases, performing clinical procedures, and delivering patient education.

Schedule:

30 hours per week, including Monday evenings and Saturdays (8:00 AM – noon). Cross‑site coverage at the Harbor Community Health Center in Hyannis may be required during operational challenges.

• Takes and records vital signs and reviews the medical chart for medications, medical history, and allergies before procedures.
• Performs and documents oral exams, including oral cancer screening, periodontal charting, occlusion and parafunctional habit evaluation, orthodontic screening, and dental restoration charting.
• Instructs patients on proper dental care, diet, brushing, flossing, adjunct tools, fluoride rinses, and recommends fluoride prescriptions or antibacterial agents; records instructions in the medical record.
• Performs authorized procedures such as sub‑gingival and supra‑gingival scaling, root planning and curettage, fluoride varnish application, and topical anesthetics while accurately recording treatments.
• May perform dental assisting duties as needed: infection control, triage of emergency patients, setup and breakdown of operations before and after patients.
• Re‑assignment to other Harbor dental clinics may be indicated during operational challenges.

• BA preferred; current Massachusetts Dental Hygiene license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
• 1 year of experience in a professional clinical setting (3 years preferred). Substitute 2 years of Dental Assisting experience for 1 year of Dental Hygienist experience.

Base salary range will be determined based on location, experience, and education. Typical offers are below the top of the range.

• Sign‑on bonus: 50% upon hire and remainder at 90 days in good standing (former HHSI employees not eligible).
