Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marine Technology Supplemental Instructor will provide instructional support for the Marine Technology program offered through CCAPE at Cape Cod Community College. The Instructor will assist with classroom and hands-on lab instruction for outboard technician training, helping students build technical skills in marine engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostic procedures. This position is designed to enhance instructional coverage, provide supplemental teaching assistance to the Lead Instructor, and ensure that all students receive the guidance needed to meet program outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have technical experience in the marine service field and a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of marine technicians. Instruction will occur in both classroom and lab settings.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

* Deliver and/or assist with classroom and lab instruction in Marine Engine Technology.

* Support students during lab sessions to reinforce learning and skill development.

* Assist the Lead Instructor with lesson preparation, equipment setup, and demonstration of techniques.

* Provide individualized student support and maintain a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment.

* Monitor and ensure adherence to all safety protocols in lab and workshop areas.

* Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records as required.

* Collaborate with the Lead Instructor, Yamaha Marine University, and regional marine employers to ensure instruction aligns with current industry standards, workforce needs, and apprenticeship requirements.

* Support program improvement efforts through constructive feedback and collaboration with the instructional team.

* Assist with program certification requirements, as appropriate.

* Maintain supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Technical Diploma or equivalent in Marine Technology, Marine Manufacturing Certification, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or industry manufacturer.

* One (1) year of professional work experience in marine engine service, repair, or related technology.

* Teaching experience or equivalent experience in training, mentoring, or instructing in a marine or technical setting.

* Strong knowledge of outboard and inboard marine engines (Yamaha preferred).

* Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate technical procedures to students.

* Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service technology.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively with Lead Instructor, Yamaha Marine University and regional employers to strengthen instructional relevance and employment pathways.

* Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Yamaha Outboard Certification.

* Teaching or mentoring experience in a technical or workforce training environment.

* Experience working with adult learners or nontraditional students.

* Knowledge of the Cape Cod Blue Economy and marine industry sectors.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION:
Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, project-based/contract position. Anticipated pay rate of $65 per hour, dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience and field experience. Non-benefited, non-unit position.
