Senior Project Engineer - Roads, DPW

Job Description

Administrative, technical and supervisory work in the Engineering Division, providing a broad range of professional level engineering services; duties include planning, developing, contracting, managing, and inspecting varied road repair projects; all other related work as required.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and more than seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience working on road construction, maintenance and repair.
• At least three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Previous project management experience with strong administrative, technical and managerial skills.

• Class D driver's license required.
• Massachusetts Professional Engineer certificate preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering, the design standards, methods, techniques, materials and equipment involved with the maintenance, repair and construction of roads and drainage.
• Working knowledge of state and local regulations pertaining to the construction and repair of roads and drainage.
• Working knowledge of state and local procurement regulations and policies.
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and policies.
• Knowledge of engineering related computer application programs.
• Knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art stormwater treatment technology.
• Ability to prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates and contract documents for road repairs.
• Strong ability to meet and communicate effectively and harmoniously with the public.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and engineering, drafting and design software.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with individuals and groups.
