Community Pharmacist (Per Diem) - ( )

Purpose of Position :
Under direction of Management or Designee, performs a variety of professional services and responsibilities related to the clinical review and dispensing of outpatient drug therapy. Provides technical direction and supervision of assigned personnel.

Description
  • 1. Reviews and interprets orders for patients.

    Inputs all prescriptions with appropriate elements including, but not limited to, patient profiles for the presence of incompatibilities, allergies, contraindications, warnings, side-effects, interactions, or inappropriate medication utilization.
  • 2. Takes appropriate action to resolve medication issues.
  • 3. Ensures adequate stock of medication and proper processing of all documents including invoices.
  • 4. Provides immunizations at the pharmacy and at flu clinics.
  • 5. Complies with all Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations in the dispensing of all medications and in the maintenance of required records.
  • 6. Communicates and interacts with all customers, including patients, employees, and family members.
  • 7. Stays current with pharmacy trends and medication therapies.
  • 8. Provides mandatory patient counseling to facilitate appropriate drug therapy and education.

    Discusses all concerns regarding patient drug therapy with appropriate health care providers, utilizing all available resources and offering appropriate recommendations when indicated.
  • 9. Focuses on the customer as a patient and prioritizes workload to ensure customer satisfaction.

    Anticipates and responds to patient needs and e nsures patient understanding and compliance through proactive counseling. Addresses customer concerns and complaints related to service delivery, promptly and courteously both in person and on the telephone.
  • 10. Refers unresolved issues or issues outside scope of responsibility to the Pharmacist Supervisor or Manager as appropriate.
  • 11. Provides consistent, professional supervision and direction to supporting personnel.
  • 12. Maintains proficiency with all essential functions of Pharmacy computer system and Point of Sale.
  • 13. Maintains a thorough understanding and ensures compliance of all regulatory and departmental policy and procedures.
  • 14. Keeps current with third party billing practices and resolve issues.
  • 15. Completes all cash and accounting reports as required.
  • 16. Maintains a working knowledge of 340B regulations.
  • 17. Maintains a working knowledge of all pharmacy equipment.
  • 18. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
  • 19. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
  • 20. Performs on call duty.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Pharmacy
  • ( Pharmacist ) - Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Certification in Immunization
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
