Position OverviewThe position involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The role includes directing and guiding patient care and activities of ancillary personnel, adhering to professional nursing standards within hospital policies, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process in patient care, ensuring maintenance of accurate and current patient records.
- Document assessments of patients throughout hospital admission, including physical, psychological, and social dimensions, as well as discharge plans.
- Summarize assessment data and initiate care plans with communication of pertinent data to allied care providers.
- Assume and demonstrate proficiency in the role of charge nurse and as a resource person for patient care, orientation, and staff teaching.
- Utilize Computerized Nursing Informatics proficiently.
- Participate in identifying aspects of care for patients, monitoring quality and appropriateness, and evaluating that care.
- Adhere to safety protocols and blood/body fluid policies.
- Assess personal learning and development needs, keeping documentation of current professional activities.
- Update knowledge of techniques and regulations as appropriate to patient age.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters, representing the hospital positively in the community.
- Consistently deliver service excellence to all stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Successful completion of required Pharmacology exam.
- Documented attendance at Fetal Monitor Course every 2 years (Intermediate or Advanced).
- Current certification in American Academy of Pediatric Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Recent OB experience within the past 2 years required.
- Crisis Prevention (CPI) certification preferred.
Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
