Position: Preschool Teacher/Teacher Aide (Part-time/Substitute)

Preschool Teacher Aide

Prince George's Christian Academy is seeking part-time/substitute preschool teacher aides to join our team. Prince George's Christian Academy (Preschool) is an education entity providing quality educational services and developmentally appropriate practices to children ages two through four/five years of age. Our Christ-centered approach meets the needs of the whole child as we educate and train the next generation of American leaders.

We are licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care. We operate a curriculum-based program during the academic school year. Our curriculum is based on a unique blend of Abeka Christian curriculum and the Maryland State Standards of Education. Our summer program is a continuation and review of what we have learned while incorporating fun.

The Preschool Teacher and Teacher Aide receives direction and guidance from the Program Director, Team Leaders, and Lead Teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for teaching and supervising pre-school aged students during program operation.
  • Ensure that all equipment is secured at the end of the program day.
  • Assist with all program activities as assigned by Program Director.
  • Ensure compliance to program rules and regulations.
  • Maintain daily attendance records and make reports as required.
  • Participate in general planning of programs and staff training as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • 90 Hours Early Childhood Development Curriculum Course preferred.
  • 9-hour child care communication training.
  • Must have Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training.
  • Must be able to pass a bi-annual physical.
  • Must be able to obtain federal and local criminal clearances.
  • Must be able to obtain Child Abuse and Neglect clearance.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with students, peers, parents and administrators.
  • Must be a team player with the willingness to fully support the lead teacher and team.
  • Must love children and enjoy working with them.
  • Must have the ability to supervise children and work with other team members.
  • Must be able to lift and carry children and equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Must be able to walk or run to keep up with the pace of the children.
  • Must be able to squat or sit at the level of children, to address them.
  • May spend time sitting on the floor or on child-sized furniture.
  • Must have reasonable organization skills.
  • Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
  • Must be saved, have a servant's heart.
  • Must be able to submit to authorities.
