Medical Scheduler – Hyattsville, MD

We are seeking a Medical Scheduler to work in a hybrid model following a two‑week on‑site training period. The role is non‑patient facing and involves a high‑volume call center.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) using IDX, Open Space, Med Connect, and SharePoint systems.
  • Handle 50–70 calls per day, completing call processing efficiently while monitoring call volumes.
  • Cross‑sell multiple locations and physicians per protocol.
  • Use Centricity Business, Centricity EMR, and other Contact Center applications to assist callers.
  • Demonstrate inquiry, empathy, courtesy, and respect during customer communication.
  • Close the loop and follow up between internal and external customer groups in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate new patient registration and update current registrations.
  • Maintain protocol knowledge and skill set for scheduling across multiple subspecialties or locations, meeting accuracy goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, committees, and community outreach.
  • Attend physician practice meetings, training with physician secretaries, regular staff meetings, and other classes as directed.
  • Review emails daily and keep up‑to‑date on protocol and Contact Center changes.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries from patients, physicians, employees, and other callers regarding appointments, referrals, and provider messages.
  • Utilize physician protocols to schedule appointments for subspecialties or locations, meeting Contact Center performance goals.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of medical scheduling, medical front desk, patient service coordinator, or related experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Comfortable using various systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work on the phone consistently.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Extremely strong empathy and customer service orientation.
  • Experience in call center, hospitality, entry‑level, or medical PSC/front‑desk roles is welcomed.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential.
Job Type & Location

Contract to Hire position based in Hyattsville, MD.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour.
